Tragic accident claims lives of two CMSD teachers after visiting son at college
The Cleveland school district is deeply saddened by the passing of two beloved teachers, just as the new school year was about to begin. The district recently confirmed that teachers Don Nunney of Joseph M. Gallagher and his wife Maria Nunney of Wilbur Wright were tragically killed in a car accident. According to reports, the accident occurred when their vehicle veered off I-85 and caught fire in the woods. Don and Maria Nunney had just dropped off their son at college before the fatal crash, with their other children in the car also sustaining injuries but expected to recover. Don had been teaching at Gallagher since 1994, and the district expressed their profound loss in a letter to Gallagher parents. Grief counselors will be available for Gallagher students in the coming days to provide support in this difficult time. The tragic incident has deeply affected the school community as well as the Nunney family, and the district acknowledges the lasting impact on their children.
