The collision occurred on Sunday morning when the SUV carrying the family collided with another car on the southbound lanes. The impact caused the SUV to catch fire, resulting in the deaths of Reagan Dougan and her children aged 9, 4, 2, and 3 months. The family, who were residents of North Carolina, was headed to Florida to reunite with the husband and father. The driver of the other vehicle was hospitalized, and the southbound lanes of the interstate were shut down for several hours following the tragic incident.
