Traffic light disabled in accident

A single vehicle accident on May 2, 2025, in Midland, Texas, resulted in the removal of a traffic light at the corner of Midkiff Road and Bankhead Highway, according to the Midland Police Department. The driver lost control of the truck while attempting a right-hand turn, causing it to overturn and collide with the traffic light. The cargo was improperly secured, causing it to shift and lead to the trailer rolling over. The driver was deemed in violation of Texas Department of Transportation regulations and was taken out of service following an inspection by an officer. Fortunately, no injuries were reported, and the area has since been cleared. A temporary traffic signal has been deployed at the intersection to maintain regular operations until a new pole is installed on May 5, 2025.
