A significant accident caused a delay on the northbound lanes of I-275 in St. Petersburg on Saturday afternoon. Although official details are pending, the Florida Department of Transportation data indicated a heavy traffic jam near the 54th Avenue South area, close to mile marker 18. The congestion reached about halfway across the Sunshine Skyway Bridge. The incident was reported around 1:10 p.m. and led to the closure of all northbound lanes for approximately an hour. By 2:10 p.m., only the left lane remained closed. Traffic is moving sluggishly, so motorists are advised to seek alternative routes.
