Traffic Accident Near Hilton in Central Athens

A traffic accident in central Athens on Holy Thursday has left at least two people injured, following a collision involving a private ambulance, according to reports from Greek Police (ELAS) and local media. The incident occurred shortly after noon at the intersection of Vasileos Konstantinou and Vasileos Georgiou streets, near the Hilton Hotel. According to initial reports from the Athens News Agency, the ambulance, which was transporting a patient, collided under unknown circumstances with a private car before crashing into a lighting column. The fallen pole reportedly struck two pedestrians, contributing to further injuries. News24/7 reports that emergency responders from EKAB treated five people at the scene. One injured person was reportedly transferred to NIMTS Military Hospital, two others were taken to Evangelismos General Hospital, and two more are receiving assistance on site. As a result of the collision, traffic has been halted on Vasileos Konstantinou Avenue at the height of Eratosthenous Street, in the direction of Hilton, police said. Authorities are currently investigating the exact circumstances that led to the accident. No further information about the condition of the injured individuals or the patient being transported by the ambulance has been released.
