The Aiken County Sheriff's Office has issued a warning for drivers to steer clear of Highway 1 and I-20 following a hazardous materials traffic incident on Tuesday. A recent Facebook post by officials indicates that the road is inaccessible and alternative routes have been arranged. Both lanes on Highway 1 are closed and drivers are instructed to divert onto the interstate and take another exit. It has been reported that the detour will remain in effect for an extended period.
