Tractor-trailer crash kills two, injures one in Franklin County

FRANKLIN COUNTY, Pa. (WHTM) — A tractor-trailer crash killed two people and injured another person in the Shippensburg area on Monday morning. According to Pennsylvania State Police in Chambersburg, on April 28 at 9:52 a.m., a 2012 Ford was traveling southbound behind a 1999 Mercury on Olde Scotland Road in Southampton Township, Franklin County. A 2024 Volvo tractor-trailer was simultaneously driving northbound on the same road. Police say the Ford hit the Mercury from behind, causing the Mercury to swerve into the northbound lane in front of the Volvo. The Volvo then lost control and drove off the west side of the roadway into a field where it came to final rest. The Mercury and Ford came to rest on Olde Scotland Road. The two occupants of the Mercury, identified as Allen and Alberta Pensinger, both 82, of Shippensburg, suffered fatal injuries and were found dead at the scene. Police say the driver of the Ford was possibly injured but refused medical treatment. The driver of the Volvo tractor-trailer was not injured, per police. The crash caused the road to be shut down for hours.
