Tracking data reveals plane's route before fatal crash near Pacific Grove

A small aircraft crashed near Point Pinos on Saturday night, with three bodies recovered by the US Coast Guard the next morning, believed to be all passengers. According to Flight Radar, the twin-engine plane, identified as Flight N8796R, departed San Carlos Airport around 10:07 p.m., bound for Monterey Regional Airport. The Beech Baron aircraft, owned by SEA2SKY AVIATION LLC, reportedly went down in the ocean close to Sunset Drive and Jewell Avenue at approximately 10:38 p.m. Emergency responders were notified at the same time due to a lost radar alert and 911 calls from locals. Witnesses shared hearing an aircraft engine noise and then a splash in the water. The cause of the crash is still uncertain.
