Top Texas sports donor among casualties of Maine plane crash
A small business jet based in Houston crashed during takeoff at Bangor International Airport in Maine on Sunday evening, resulting in the tragic deaths of six people, including several Texans. The Federal Aviation Administration reported that the Bombardier Challenger 600 went down around 7:45 p.m. amidst winter conditions. The plane was owned by the Houston-based law firm Arnold & Itkin, with attorney Tara Arnold and pilot Jacob Hosmer among those who lost their lives. Tara Arnold, a respected attorney at the firm, was married to co-founder Kurt Arnold. Tara’s colleague, Harris County Commissioner Lesley Briones, spoke fondly of her during a news conference addressing the impact of the winter storm. The Arnold and Itkin families are well-known supporters of the University of Texas Athletics program, having made significant donations. Investigations into the crash will likely focus on weather-related factors due to cold-weather concerns for the Challenger aircraft series.
