Toddler dies, 13 hurt in crash at Portillo's in Oswego, IL

A tragic incident occurred on Wednesday afternoon in Oswego, Illinois when a car crashed into a Portillo's restaurant, resulting in the death of a 2-year-old child and injuries to 13 others. The Oswego Police Chief, Jason Bastin, reported that a 2011 Lincoln MKZ collided with the Portillo's on U.S. Route 34 near Douglas Road just before 2 p.m. Out of the 14 injured individuals, eight were transported to the hospital while the remaining six received treatment on the scene. Sadly, the 2-year-old child passed away in the hospital, and three others sustained serious injuries as confirmed by fire officials. The driver, a 50-year-old woman, was also among the injured individuals being treated at the hospital. A witness, Brian Wallers, described the distress of a mother searching for her daughter following the accident. To assist the mother, Wallers suggested checking Rush Copley Medical Center where most of the injured had been taken. The authorities are currently investigating the cause of the crash, which is believed to have been an accident, and have advised people to avoid the area to facilitate the ongoing investigation.
