Tire issue likely to blame for Florida crash that killed 5, injured 7
Five people have been confirmed dead after a crash on Florida's Turnpike in Osceola County Sunday evening, the Florida Highway Patrol said. The crash occurred in the northbound lanes at mile marker 211 in Kenansville, FHP said. Troopers said it was a single-car crash involving a 2004 E-350 van. The driver lost control of the vehicle due to a possible tire malfunction, causing the van to overturn several times into a ditch.Six passengers were airlifted to different hospitals, while five were confirmed dead, FHP said. The driver of the van was taken to the hospital in an ambulance. All lanes were shut down for hours after the crash. However, FHP said lanes finally opened Monday morning. The crash remains under investigation.
