Three individuals transported to hospital following airplane accident on Block Island
Yesterday afternoon, a small plane crashed at Block Island State Airport in Rhode Island. The single-engine aircraft, a Piper Cherokee Archer, was involved in an accident around 12:30 p.m. Fortunately, all three passengers were safely extricated from the plane and taken to Block Island Medical Center. The incident required over 20 firefighters, police officers, and first responders to attend the scene due to the challenging conditions and remote location. No injuries were reported among third parties or responders, and there was no additional fire to contain. Rhode Island State Police are currently assessing the situation to determine the next steps. Witness Ray Arruda, a seasoned pilot, shared his shock upon discovering the overturned aircraft in a wooded area near the airport.
