Three individuals injured in Greene County crash due to spilled steel beams on I-81.

Three individuals were hurt in a collision on Interstate 81 in Greene County when a commercial truck carrying steel beams lost its load. The incident occurred around 8 p.m. on Thursday on the southbound side of I-81. A Buick traveling north veered across the median and collided with a white freightliner truck in the southbound lanes, causing the freightliner to jackknife and spill its cargo. Cleanup efforts closed both southbound lanes for a considerable time. The driver and passenger of the Buick, as well as the freightliner driver, sustained injuries. The Buick driver was cited for failure to stay in their lane. The crash resulted in the closure of the southbound lanes of I-81 in Greene County on Thursday night. The accident location was reported at mile marker 40.6 at 8:13 p.m., with another unrelated incident reported at mile marker 44 two minutes earlier.
