Three cars collide and ignite on Fresno freeway
Traffic delays are being reported on Highway 99 in Fresno County following a fiery accident involving two cars and a big rig. The crash occurred near Herndon Avenue on the northbound side of the highway. The incident began further north in Madera County, causing a traffic backup that extended into Fresno. The collision involved a car, a truck, and a big rig with a trailer, all catching fire. The big rig had stopped due to the congestion, and the two other vehicles rear-ended it, leading to the fires. Multiple injuries were reported, but the use of seatbelts likely prevented more severe outcomes. California Highway Patrol is investigating, and traffic is backed up to Shaw Avenue. Highway 99 is scheduled to be closed until Tuesday afternoon. More details are awaited.
