The reason for their departure: Fallout increases as West Palm Beach officers are charged in fatal pursuit.
Seven police officers from West Palm Beach are currently facing criminal charges following an unauthorized high-speed pursuit that led to a fatal crash resulting in the deaths of two women in Boynton Beach. The officers allegedly pursued Neoni Copeland, who crashed into a vehicle carrying Jenice Woods and her mother Marcia Pochette, killing both women, with Woods being newly pregnant. The pursuit covered nearly 13 miles at speeds of up to 119 miles per hour. None of the officers reported the pursuit, activated their body cameras, or provided assistance at the scene. Three officers appeared in court, while four others posted bail. The charged officers are accused of official misconduct and leaving the scene of a crash involving death. The victims' family attorney expressed outrage at the officers' actions. The officers have been on administrative leave since the incident.
