Terre Haute intersection shut down after serious crash
TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV)— The intersection of Hunt Road and Wabash Avenue has been shut down after a collision between what appears to be an excavating truck and a small bus. The following is a statement from the Vigo County Sheriff's Office: On 3/28/2025 at 1243hrs., the Vigo Co. Sheriff's Office responded to a serious bodily injury crash at the intersection of E. US Hwy 40 and N. Hunt St. Preliminary investigations indicate a westbound dump truck entered the intersection on a yellow light. An eastbound private transport bus turned from eastbound US Hwy 40 toward northbound Hunt St., also entering the intersection on a yellow light. The dump truck then collided with the bus, ejecting the driver of the bus. Additionally, four passengers on the bus were transported to Union Hospital for injuries sustained in the crash. The driver of the bus was transported to Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis with serious injuries. While there are no preliminary indications of alcohol or drugs involved, chemical tests are pending. The investigation is ongoing. The Vigo Co. Sheriff's Office was assisted by the Seelyville Fire Department, Transcare Ambulance, Lifeline, Terre Haute Police Dept., Indiana State Police Dept. and the Vigo Co. FACT Team. Our thoughts and prayers are with all involved. Steve Meng Chief Deputy
