Temple Terrace police officer injured in crash, conditions of others involved unknown
TEMPLE TERRACE, Fla. (WFLA) — Part of Fowler Avenue was blocked off Wednesday as authorities investigated a crash involving a Temple Terrace police officer. Officials said the two-car crash happened just after 3:30 p.m. as the officer was traveling on Fowler Avenue. The officer was injured as a result of the crash and was listed in stable condition as of Wednesday evening. It's unclear if anyone else was injured in the crash. It appears that only one other vehicle was involved, and the Temple Terrace Police Department said the occupants were "being evaluated." Police did not release any details on what may have caused the crash nor who was at fault. Video from the scene showed two damaged vehicles on the side of Fowler Avenue, near Greenhill Place. Several law enforcement vehicles were in the area, and police had cones blocking much of the roadway. The Florida Highway Patrol will be leading the investigation into the crash, according to the police department. "This approach is consistent with our commitment to transparency and ensures an independent review of the incident," a spokesperson said in a news release.
