Teen's family suing LAPD over crash injuries
A teenager has taken legal action against the Los Angeles Police Department for the severe injuries he sustained in a motorbike accident allegedly caused by officers. The incident occurred on February 25 when the LAPD patrol car reportedly collided with the victim's Honda Grom bike. The lawsuit, filed by civil rights attorney Ben Crump on behalf of the family, states that the officers intentionally rammed into the motorbike without using lights or sirens, and without instructing the teenager to stop. As a result of the crash, the victim suffered multiple fractures, internal bleeding, facial trauma, and other serious injuries that required surgery. Witnesses and family members described the traumatic incident, pointing out the lack of immediate medical attention given to the victim. The lawsuit accuses the LAPD of excessive force, negligence, and emotional distress, among other claims. The family is demanding the release of body camera footage to hold the officers accountable. Despite the allegations, LAPD officials declined to comment on the ongoing legal proceedings.
