Teenager crashes at Portsmouth Traffic Circle after driving over 100 mph, according to police
A high-speed collision occurred at the Portsmouth Traffic Circle on Saturday night, when a 17-year-old driver from Connecticut was clocked going 110 mph by a Newington Police officer on the Spaulding Turnpike. The officer attempted to pull the driver over, but did not pursue a chase, alerting the New Hampshire State Police and Portsmouth Police Department instead. The teen failed to navigate the traffic circle and collided with another vehicle, resulting in minor injuries. The driver was found to be more than double the speed limit, which drops to 35 mph near the circle. Newington police are reminding drivers to slow down, particularly near the traffic circle, which has a history of accidents. Police are not releasing the driver's name due to their age, but charges are anticipated to be filed.
