Teenager accused in fatal pedestrian crash on Old Fort Parkway in Murfreesboro

Murfreesboro police have reported that a driver has been charged with vehicular homicide for a crash in early August that resulted in the death of a pedestrian. The incident occurred at the intersection of Old Fort Parkway and New Salem Highway. Reports indicated that the pedestrian, 23-year-old Kali Mills, was struck while crossing in a marked crosswalk by a pickup truck driven by 18-year-old Samuel Helton. Helton was arrested on the charge of vehicular homicide by recklessness, and after posting a $50,000 bond, he was released from the Rutherford County Adult Detention Center.
