Teenage from Virden killed in farming mishap

Tragic news from Virden, Illinois, where a 16-year-old student named Nolan Kiel passed away due to a farm equipment accident, as confirmed by Macoupin County Coroner Anthony Kravanya. Kiel was operating a tractor just east of Virden's city limits when the incident occurred, and he was pronounced dead at the scene around noon. Preliminary autopsy results suggest that Kiel died from asphyxiation. He was a student at North Mac High School, where counselors are offering support until 4 p.m. at the High School Media Center and the Middle School Library, with additional support available as needed when students return on Monday. The district remembered Kiel as someone who always had a positive attitude and friendly demeanor. Authorities, including the Virden Fire Department, Virden Police Department, Prairieland Ambulance Service, Girard Fire Department, Auburn Fire Department, Macoupin County Sheriff’s Department, and The Macoupin County Coroner’s Office, responded to the accident. The incident is currently under investigation by the Macoupin County Sheriff’s Department and The Macoupin County Coroner’s Office.
