
Teenage driver accused in fatal Cranston collision
A 16-year-old boy has been charged in relation to a fatal accident that resulted in the death of an elderly man from Florida. The teenager, whose identity has not been disclosed, is facing charges of reckless driving resulting in death and injury. The incident, which occurred last month, involved a head-on collision on Pippin Orchard Road in Cranston. The boy lost control of his vehicle while driving, crossed into oncoming traffic, and collided with a Mercedes, causing the death of 84-year-old Jack Safford, who passed away two days after the crash. The teenager, who was driving at 74 mph in a 25 mph zone, had recently obtained his license and appeared in court where he was put on home confinement and had his license confiscated.
