Teen on electric scooter killed in hit-and-run in Aurora; suspect in custody
A tragic hit-and-run incident occurred on Friday night in Aurora, Colorado when a 16-year-old boy, Dimitri Markovic, was struck and killed while riding an electric scooter. The suspect, Daveon Javon-James Jackson, 19, has been arrested in connection with the incident. The driver of a blue 2014 Dodge Charger hit Dimitri from behind while he was riding in the bike lane. Despite being conscious and breathing when taken to the hospital, Dimitri's condition deteriorated rapidly, leading to his unfortunate passing. His mother, Tasha Hill, remembered him as a kindhearted teenager who loved music and cars. The driver fled the scene, but thanks to tips from witnesses and camera footage, the suspect was located and arrested the following day. This incident was one of three fatal hit-and-run crashes in the metro area that same evening.
