Teen killed in fatal crash following police pursuit in West Milwaukee
An 18-year-old man from Milwaukee was killed and a 19-year-old man from West Allis was severely injured following a rollover accident early Sunday, Jan. 5, as their vehicle tried to evade a police traffic stop. The incident began around 1:22 a.m. when a West Milwaukee Police officer tried to pull over a black Honda sedan for a traffic violation near Miller Park Way and West Lincoln Avenue. The driver of the sedan fled after noticing the squad car. The chase continued until the vehicle crashed into a roundabout at South 37th Street after driving at high speed. Both occupants were thrown from the car, with the 18-year-old being fatally injured at the scene, and the 19-year-old sustaining serious injuries and being transported to Froedtert Hospital. Investigations are ongoing by the Milwaukee Police Department Crash Reconstruction Unit and the West Milwaukee Police Department.
