Teen killed in early morning crash in Cambria County
CAMBRIA COUNTY, Pa. (WTAJ) -- A Glendale high school senior was pronounced dead after a crash along Beaver Valley Road Saturday morning. According to Cambria County Coroner Jeff Lees, 17-year-old Carter R. Gallaher was pronounced dead at the scene after a 2018 Nissan Rogue carrying him and three others, ages 19, 18, and 15, lost control going around a curve around 5 a.m. The vehicle went off the road before hitting a tree and an embankment. Gallaher was a passenger in the vehicle and was reportedly not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash, Lee added. Two additional passengers were taken to the hospital, one by helicopter and another by ambulance, due to injuries from the crash. According to state police, they discovered that the driver of the Nissan was under the influence of alcohol. Troopers noted the driver allegedly admitted he had been drinking. Glendale School District, where Gallaher was a student at Glendale Junior-Senior High School, released a statement on his passing. "This loss is sure to raise many emotions, concerns, and questions for our entire school community, especially our students." They add that counselors will be on-site Tuesday to assist students and staff. The crash is currently under investigation by the Pennsylvania State Police.
