Teen killed in crash after police chase
A tragic incident occurred last week when a teenage girl from Coffeyville, Kansas lost her life in a car crash during a police pursuit. The pursuit began in Owasso, Oklahoma, following reports of shoplifting. The chase, reaching speeds of over 100mph on Highway 169, ended in Coffeyville after the suspect's vehicle collided with an SUV at an intersection. The 15-year-old passenger of the SUV, Serefina O'Connell, passed away at a hospital on Monday. Coffeyville Public Schools will have counselors and support staff available at school in the upcoming days to offer care and assistance to students and staff as they navigate through this difficult time together. The suspect, 38-year-old Tenisha D. Mayberry from Blue Springs, Missouri, is facing multiple charges in connection to the incident.
