Teen in Utah charged with DUI after crash kills 16-year-old

An 18-year-old individual was taken into custody by the Utah Highway Patrol after a crash in Tooele County resulted in the tragic death of a teenage passenger. Jaxon Douglas-David Wood was apprehended following the incident on State Route 36, where it was reported that a truck driven by Wood had deviated from its lane, leading to the fatal accident. The collision caused both Wood and the 16-year-old passenger to be ejected from the vehicle, with the passenger unfortunately losing their life at the scene. Wood, found to have a Blood Alcohol Content of .18 during a sobriety test, admitted to consuming alcohol before getting behind the wheel. In addition, open alcohol containers and a THC vape were discovered in the vehicle by authorities. Wood now faces charges including DUI, automobile homicide, speeding, and reckless driving, and is currently in custody without bail.
