Teen Faces Possible Decades in Prison for Fatal DWI Crash
A teenager from Holly Springs is potentially facing a 62-year sentence in prison following a tragic incident that resulted in the death of a 14-year-old. At a recent arraignment hearing in Wake County, 16-year-old Ashton Rahlfs faced charges for hitting a teenager on a bicycle with his SUV, causing a fatal crash. Rahlfs is also accused of colliding with another vehicle, resulting in serious injuries to its driver. The charges against Rahlfs include felony second-degree murder, felony death by vehicle, and serious injury by vehicle, which collectively could lead to the maximum sentence. Additionally, Rahlfs is facing several misdemeanor charges related to alcohol consumption and driving violations. A judge has denied bail for Rahlfs, and his next court appearance is scheduled for December 15th, with his parents present to support him.
