Teen driver killed in fatal Mission collision
In Mission, Texas, the Texas Department of Public Safety is investigating a fatal collision involving two vehicles that took the life of a teenager on Saturday evening. The tragic incident occurred at around 10:28 p.m. at the intersection of La Homa Road and 66th Street, just south of Mile 5. Reportedly, a 2020 Toyota Tacoma traveling westbound on 66th Street failed to yield the right of way, leading to a collision with a 2006 GMC Envoy traveling northbound on La Homa Road. The impact caused the GMC to spin, hitting a fence and a utility pole before overturning and coming to a stop on the southbound lanes of La Homa Road. The driver of the Tacoma was transported to Doctors Hospital at Renaissance for medical evaluation, while the GMC driver, identified as 17-year-old Latwon Oscar Uribe from Mission, tragically passed away at the scene. The investigation into this devastating incident is ongoing.
