Teen driver Jose Gutierrez faces murder charges for 'intentional' 12-car crash in Las Vegas
A 19-year-old named Jose Gutierrez is currently facing murder charges following a tragic 12-car collision that occurred in Las Vegas on Tuesday. The incident resulted in the deaths of his pregnant girlfriend and another driver. According to reports from 8 News Now, Gutierrez allegedly accelerated his vehicle to 71 mph and caused the crash. Although he claimed to have no recollection of the events, authorities noticed signs of potential impairment. While Gutierrez denied consuming alcohol or marijuana recently, he admitted to using a vape pen earlier in the day due to his seizures. Investigators found traces of cannabinoids and fentanyl in his system after conducting blood tests. The Clark County District Attorney stated that there is evidence suggesting Gutierrez's actions were intentional, leading to the murder charge. Initially facing charges related to reckless driving resulting in death or bodily harm, Gutierrez now faces more serious charges including two counts of open murder and other offenses. The crash, which took place at the intersection of Cheyenne Avenue and Jones Boulevard, involved Gutierrez speeding through a red light and colliding with multiple vehicles. His past encounters with law enforcement include a speeding citation and a previous altercation where he threatened an officer, resulting in a misdemeanor charge.
