Teen driver dies in head-on collision Butler County

DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) – A juvenile driver died in a two-vehicle crash in Butler County Wednesday. According to the Butler County Sheriff's Office, the crash happened in Liberty Township on Maude Hughes Road, just south of Kyles Station Road, at 11:45 a.m. The Butler County Serious Traffic Accident Reconstruction Team (S.T.A.R.T.) responded to the crash. The initial investigation found a Honda Civic, driven by a 17-year-old, was traveling north on Maude Hughes Road when it crossed left of center for unknown reasons. The Honda then crashed head-on into a Ford Transit van heading south. Officials said the teen was critically injured and was taken to UC West Chester Hospital, where he died shortly after arrival. The Ford driver was also taken to UC West Chester for minor injuries. “This is an unimaginable tragedy,” said Butler County Sheriff Richard Jones. “The loss of a young life is something no family should ever have to endure. Our hearts are with the family as they navigate this devastating loss.” The crash is under active investigation by the S.T.A.R.T. team.  2 NEWS will update this article when more information is available.
