Teen driver convicted for fatal accident involving MCCTC student
An 18-year-old girl has been sentenced for a tragic crash that resulted in the death of a 16-year-old Mahoning County Career and Technical Center (MCCTC) student. The Deerfield teen, who was 17 at the time of the incident, received a one to 180-day sentence, a 16-year suspension of her driver's license, and one year of probation, as well as a requirement to complete community service. The crash occurred when the teen was driving a car that veered off the road and struck a utility pole and trees before flipping over, resulting in the death of Brock Jones, 16, who was a passenger in the vehicle. Speed was noted as a contributing factor in the accident.
