Teen driver accused of causing fatal Durham crash while driving under the influence, according to police

A tragic crash occurred in Durham over the weekend resulting in the death of a young man. Durham Police reported that the incident took place early Saturday morning on North Carolina Highway 147. The collision involved a Chevrolet Suburban SUV and a Ford F-150 pickup truck. The SUV, driven by 19-year-old Samuel Salinas-Salinas, was speeding and collided with the pickup truck, eventually causing it to overturn. One of the passengers, 18-year-old Josh Aldolfo Rodriguez-Higinio, was thrown from the SUV and later succumbed to his injuries at Duke Medical Center. Salinas-Salinas has been charged with multiple offenses, including felony death by motor vehicle. Authorities urge anyone with relevant details about the crash to reach out to Investigator J.W.
