Teen dies in Turnpike collision with tow truck, authorities report
The Florida Highway Patrol is looking into a fatal accident that happened on Florida's Turnpike just above mile marker 291 involving a tow truck on Saturday evening. The incident was responded to by troopers at 9:44 p.m. A 53-year-old man from Ocala was driving a 2024 Hino tow truck southbound, partly in the outer lane and on the shoulder, when he started fully merging into the outer lane. A young woman, 18, driving a 2023 Ford Mustang Mach-E in the same lane struck the back of the tow truck. Tragically, the female driver of the Mustang Mach-E was announced dead at the scene. The tow truck driver was unharmed and stayed at the scene post-collision. The Florida Highway Patrol is still investigating the accident.
