Teen dead after Friday morning buggy crash in Adams County
ADAMS COUNTY, Ind. (WANE) — A teenager is dead after a semi-truck collided with a horse-drawn buggy early Friday morning in Washington Township. The crash happened on Friday at approximately 2:11 a.m., according to a press release sent out by the Adams County Sheriff. Both vehicles were driving westbound down State Road 124 when, for an unknown reason, the semi rear-ended the buggy around the County Road 200 East intersection. When first responders arrived, they found two injured teenagers. 16-year-old Laura Schwartz from Decatur was pronounced dead at the scene and a teenage boy was transported to a hospital. The semi-truck driver reported no injuries. The Adams County Emergency Medical Services, Monroe Fire Department, Decatur Police Department, and Indiana State Police assisted with the crash. The crash is being investigated by the sheriff's office.
