Teen cited with careless driving after fatal crash on Hwy 26
PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) – A 16-year-old was cited for careless driving Friday after a crash on Highway 26 killed one person and injured another, according to Oregon State Police. Around 2:45 p.m., officers responded to reports of a three-vehicle crash near milepost 29.5 in Clackamas County. Investigators said the crash happened when a 16-year-old girl in a Subaru Impreza pulled westbound onto the highway near SE Weber Road and then failed to yield the right of way to a Ford Focus. The Focus then crashed into the back left of the Subaru and entered the eastbound lane, where it also crashed head-on with a white U-Haul moving truck. The driver in the Ford — identified as 39-year-old Briande Boudreau Lybbert of Portland — died at the scene. The U-Haul passenger suffered minor injuries and was taken to a local hospital.
