
Teen charged with motor vehicle homicide after fatal crash with bicyclist
A tragic incident occurred in Bellingham, Massachusetts on Monday afternoon, resulting in the death of a cyclist and the legal involvement of a 17-year-old driver. Bellingham authorities were alerted to a collision between a motor vehicle and a bicyclist on South Main Street around 12:44 p.m. The bicyclist, a 60-year-old man from Woonsocket, Rhode Island, sustained severe injuries and was attended to at the scene before being rushed to Landmark Medical Center in Woonsocket, where he passed away. Although the cyclist's identity has not been disclosed, the driver, described as a 17-year-old male from Sutton, Massachusetts, cooperated with emergency responders and was subsequently transported to Milford Regional Medical Center for treatment. Following a preliminary inquiry, the teenager was given a criminal citation for motor vehicle homicide, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, and a marked lanes violation. The Bellingham Police Department is actively investigating the incident with support from the Central Massachusetts Law Enforcement Council and the Worcester County District Attorney's Office.
