Teen boy saved after bike crash in Auburn State Rec Area
A 16-year-old boy had to be rescued on New Year's Eve following a mountain biking mishap in the Auburn State Recreation Area. Emergency crews, including Cal Fire and the Placer County Fire Department, were called to assist the injured teen who had an upper leg injury on a newly developed trail. Firefighters trekked half a mile to reach the boy, and a CHP helicopter conducted a successful hoist operation to lower him to safety on the Clemintine Trail. The patient was then transported to the hospital for treatment of a possible broken left femur.
