Teen accused of causing deadly Garland crash while driving under the influence

An 18-year-old driver of a Cadillac SUV was arrested and charged with intoxication manslaughter after speeding into an intersection in Garland and crashing into a Nissan SUV, resulting in the death of the Nissan's driver. The driver, Alan Ernaldo Marmol Melendez, was apprehended by Garland Police following the incident that occurred at 2:30 a.m. at the North Garland Avenue and Kingsley Road intersection. The collision happened when Marmol Melendez's Cadillac SUV, traveling at a high speed northbound, collided with the eastbound Nissan SUV. Marmol Melendez and a passenger in his vehicle sustained minor injuries, with the passenger being hospitalized and later discharged. Marmol Melendez is currently in custody at the Garland Jail without bond set. The investigation is ongoing, and anyone with information is encouraged to contact Garland Police.
