Tanker crash on I-91 South in New Haven causes fuel rupture
NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) — A tanker was struck by another truck on the right shoulder of Interstate 91 South on Saturday morning in New Haven, causing a fuel rupture, Connecticut State Police said. The Connecticut Department of Energy & Environmental Protection (DEEP) has been notified of the rupture, state police said. The right two lanes of I-91 South between Exits 9 and 8 reopened after being closed for several hours. No injuries have been reported, state police said. Environmental Services, Inc. said that the crash resulted in over 50 gallons of fuel being spilled into a marsh area of the highway. One of their HAZMAT teams responded to the area to contain the spill and mitigate the damage. No further information has been released at this time. This is a developing story.
