New details were revealed on Monday regarding a crime spree in the Northland that culminated in a fatal wrong-way crash on Interstate 29 over the weekend. The incident began with a crash involving a 36-year-old man on Saturday afternoon near 76th Street and N. Broadway in Gladstone. After fleeing the scene into a wooded area, the man returned to the intersection, stopped a Subaru Forester, jumped on the hood, and stole the vehicle. Police briefly pursued the suspect until he began driving in the wrong direction on U.S. 169 Highway and eventually collided head-on with a Honda Accord on Interstate 29. Tragically, a 21-year-old woman from Kansas City, Kansas, who was a passenger in the Honda, lost her life in the crash, while the driver was seriously injured. Another vehicle, a 2021 Chevrolet Traverse, was also involved in the collision.
