Suspect in fatal hit-and-run in Scarborough located and charged

The Scarborough Police Department has identified the driver involved in a recent hit-and-run incident on U.S. Route 1 that resulted in the death of a cyclist. The police were able to pinpoint the vehicle from the crash last Friday and track down the driver, Saran Sun, who has been charged with leaving the scene of a motor vehicle accident causing injury or death. The collision occurred at approximately 4:15 a.m. in the vicinity of Route 1 and Southgate Road, leading to the passing of 50-year-old cyclist Howard Gribbin. Investigators disclosed that this was the state's second fatal bicycle accident this year based on data from the Maine Department of Transportation. The road between Haigis Parkway and Payne Road was shut down for about three hours while authorities examined the scene.
