Suspect in double-fatal alleged drunk driving UTV crash held on $5,000 cash bond
GREEN LAKE (WLUK)- The suspect in a double-fatal drunk driving UTV crash had her first court appearance Monday, but formal charges haven’t been filed. Megan Zimmerman, 26, was arrested in connection with the Green Lake County April 18 UTV crash that resulted in the deaths of Nicole Deaver, 40 and Timothy Kamphuis, 46, both from Fairwater. In court Monday, Assistant District Attorney Catherine Block said the state is still waiting for one of the autopsy reports. She anticipates filing formal charges by the end of the week. Green Lake County Judge Mark Slate set a $5,000 cash bond. Zimmerman returns to court June 16 for a former initial appearance. Officials say the UTV was traveling on Princeton Road, near Honeysuckle Lane in the town of Brooklyn, when it lost control on a curve. There were four people inside the UTV and no one was wearing seatbelts. Deaver was ejected from the UTV and pronounced deceased at the scene. Kamphuis died days later at the hospital from his injuries. In Kamphuis' obituary, it referred to Deaver as "the love of his life." The other two UTV occupants were identified as a man from Ripon and a woman from Markesan.
