Suspect in deadly crosswalk accident to appear in court, bail set at half a million dollars
A court hearing took place on Saturday morning for the suspect who was involved in the tragic accident that resulted in the death of CCSD high school senior McKenzie Scott. 37-year-old Keenan Jackson, the suspected driver of the car that struck and killed Scott as she was walking in a marked crosswalk in the northwest valley on Friday morning, had his bail set at $500,000 by Las Vegas Justice Court Judge Daniel Westmeyer. The judge ordered that if bail is posted, Jackson must stay out of trouble, refrain from operating a motor vehicle, and be placed on high-level electronic monitoring. Jackson's public defender argued for his release, stating that Jackson had recently moved to Las Vegas in December 2024 in search of employment and highlighting his lack of criminal history. Jackson is facing charges including DUI resulting in death, reckless driving, and driving without a valid driver's license. The next court date is scheduled for Tuesday, May 6.
