Suspect hospitalized after accident with officer
A woman has been taken into custody after allegedly striking a Jackson police officer's vehicle with a child in her car. Earlier on Friday evening, there was a significant police presence on Highway 18 between McDowell Road Extension and Maddox Road. Jackson Police Department (JPD) reported that the incident began shortly after 7 p.m. when authorities were alerted to a domestic situation on Dixie Drive. A driver, who was associated with the domestic call, collided with an officer's vehicle during an attempted stop by the police. The unidentified suspect then fled the scene with a 2-year-old child in the car. In response, southbound traffic on Highway 18 between McDowell Road Extension and Maddox Road was temporarily halted but has since resumed. Thankfully, no injuries were reported in the incident.
