Suspect detained in Aurora for fatal crash, resulting in fatalities of woman and teen.
A man has been taken into custody by the police in connection with a tragic accident in Aurora that resulted in the deaths of a woman and a teenage girl last week. The Aurora Police Department revealed that Olvin Lidenis Carcamo-Meza was driving a black Audi north on South Airport Boulevard when the incident occurred around 2:45 a.m. on Sunday. The collision took place when he disregarded a red light and crashed into a white Hyundai traveling west on Alameda Avenue, followed by hitting a Toyota sedan that was stationary in the turn lane. The woman driving the Hyundai, aged 37, and her 15-year-old passenger lost their lives in the crash, while the Toyota driver experienced minor injuries. Carcamo-Meza sustained severe injuries and was hospitalized for treatment. After his release from the hospital, authorities arrested him on Wednesday, and he is now detained at the Aurora Municipal Detention Center facing charges of vehicular homicide. While speed is believed to have played a role in the accident, the police do not suspect the involvement of alcohol or drugs. Further charges are anticipated as the investigation progresses, with formal charges to be filed by the 18th Judicial District Attorney's Office. Anyone with information on the crash is urged to reach out to Metro Denver Crime Stoppers at (720) 913-7867.
