Suspect arrested in Ponchatoula car crash injuring 8, including 3 kids
A man has been arrested in connection with a three-car crash that occurred on Monday night, as reported by the Ponchatoula Police Department. Anthony Conley, 68, was arrested for the crash. Police initially believed there were two occupants in the truck involved, but Conley claimed to be a passenger. Upon further investigation, it was determined that Conley was actually the driver and the sole occupant of the 2015 Chevy Silverado. Conley was arrested on Tuesday morning and later taken to the hospital for evaluation. A blood sample was collected via a search warrant for analysis at the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab. He is facing charges of hit and run, obstruction of justice, eight counts of negligent injuring, and driving with a suspended license. The crash, which took place at 6:27 p.m. on Highway 51 North near St. Patrick's Boulevard, involved a 2015 Chevy Silverado, a 2014 GMC Terrain, and a 2024 Hyundai Tucson. Eight individuals, including three children aged 2, 5, and 7, were injured and transported to various hospitals such as North Oaks Medical Center, Lakeview Hospital, and Our Lady of the Lake-Children’s Hospital. Further investigations are underway with blood samples taken from two of the drivers. Chief Bry Layrisson is urging witnesses or those with information on the crash to reach out to the Ponchatoula Police Department.
