
Study: Indiana places 9th in rush-hour accidents across the country
A recent study conducted by a Washington, D.C.-based law firm, Kitchel Law, has revealed that Indiana ranks ninth among states with the highest number of fatal crashes during evening rush-hour. The study analyzed data from the National Highway Traffic Administration spanning from 2018 to 2022, focusing on fatal crashes that took place between 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Indiana's fatal crash rate during this period was found to be 6.3 per 100,000 licensed drivers, which is nearly 26% higher than the national average of five fatal crashes per 100,000 licensed drivers. The study reported an average of 134 fatal crashes during rush hour in Indiana between 2018 and 2022. Below is the list of the top ten states with the highest number of evening rush-hour crashes per 100,000 drivers.
