Student at Morehead High School receives artificial arm following ATV crash
In Eden, N.C., Trooper Wright, a Morehead High School running back, is demonstrating remarkable resilience following an ATV accident that resulted in the loss of his arm. With the unwavering support of his father, trainer, and two arms, Wright is back at the gym, a goal he has been eager to achieve for months. Despite the life-altering incident in November 2024, the determined 17-year-old remains positive, declaring his ability to overcome every challenge that comes his way. Thanks to the generosity of the Eden community, Wright was able to obtain a prosthetic arm from the Arm Dynamics clinic in Kansas in mid-March. After pushing through physical therapy sessions and defying expectations by becoming the first person without an elbow from Arm Dynamics to bench press, Wright is now focusing on preparing for the 2025 football season. He recognizes that his comeback to the field is a testament to the support of his community and his deep faith, finding solace in the belief that his path is guided by a higher power. The cost of his prosthetic arm exceeded $50,000, but Wright is determined to continue his journey and aims to participate in Morehead High School’s spring football training camp in May.
