Stolen car crash near Evergreen Park shopping center; Police investigate; 1 fatality

One individual tragically lost their life in a collision when a stolen vehicle collided with another car near a shopping center in Evergreen Park, as reported by Evergreen Park police. Emergency crews were actively working to investigate the two-vehicle accident that occurred in the Walmart parking lot and on 95th Street, across from Evergreen Plaza. A CBS Skywatch helicopter observed the aftermath, revealing a dark gray car severely damaged at the front against the median and sidewalk separating the parking lot from 95th Street, and a light gray car with significant side and rear damages situated in the parking lot corner. Law enforcement disclosed that they initially responded to a stolen car incident at the Speedway Gas Station on 95th Street, where a woman exited the car to enter the gas station while the male driver sped away. The stolen vehicle driver ultimately crashed into another car at 95th and Campbell, causing the other vehicle to spin into the Walmart parking lot, causing damage to multiple trees in the process. Tragically, the stolen car driver was pronounced dead at Christ Medical Center, while the other car's driver was transported to Little Company of Mary Hospital with injuries deemed non-life threatening. The woman accompanying the male driver in the stolen car was apprehended at the gas station.
